Glowing dye could replace radioactive tracers in breast cancer surgery

Summary
This study tests a new way to find if breast cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes during surgery. Instead of using a radioactive tracer, doctors use a special dye called indocyanine green (ICG) and a camera to see the first lymph node where cancer might go. About 1,760 women with early breast cancer will take part. The goal is to make the switch from radioactive tracers to ICG easier for hospitals, so patients need fewer extra visits and avoid radiation exposure.
