Glowing dye could help surgeons spot hidden leaks

NCT ID NCT07181070

Summary

This study is testing if a special fluorescent dye can help surgeons see better during a key surgery for achalasia, a rare swallowing disorder. The dye is meant to help spot tiny leaks in the esophagus that might otherwise be missed, which could make the surgery safer. Researchers will compare results in 70 patients to see if using the dye reduces the need for follow-up X-rays and leads to better outcomes.
