Heart failure study questions need for routine defibrillator implants

NCT ID NCT06543446

Summary

This study aims to determine if patients with stable, well-managed heart failure who have a low predicted risk of dangerous heart rhythms need an implantable defibrillator (ICD). It will compare the long-term survival and quality of life of over 3,000 participants randomly assigned to either receive an ICD or continue with medication-only treatment. The goal is to see if avoiding the implant is just as safe and effective for this specific group.
