Gene test could predict ibuprofen success after wisdom tooth pull

NCT ID NCT05983042

First seen Jun 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study checked if a specific gene change (CYP2C9*3) affects how well ibuprofen works and how tolerable it is after a molar tooth extraction. 200 healthy Pakistani adults took ibuprofen after their tooth removal, and researchers measured their pain levels and side effects. The goal was to see if genetic differences could explain why some people get better pain relief or more side effects from the same dose of ibuprofen.
