Scientists hunt for Gut's hidden clues to IBS mystery

NCT ID NCT06668922

Summary

This study aims to understand how the community of bacteria in the gut and certain digestive chemicals are related to symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Researchers will compare adults with IBS to healthy volunteers by having them follow a specific high-fat diet and provide stool samples. The goal is to find patterns in gut bacteria and chemicals that might explain why people with IBS experience symptoms like diarrhea or constipation.
