Scientists probe Gut's role in IBS pain triggered by fruit sugar
NCT ID NCT07337707
Summary
This study aims to understand how gut bacteria might connect difficulty digesting fructose (a sugar in fruit) to increased gut pain in people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Researchers will compare 60 IBS patients, grouped by whether they have fructose malabsorption and/or gut pain sensitivity. The goal is to find specific patterns in gut bacteria and chemicals that could explain this link, potentially guiding future treatments.
