Scientists pinpoint exact food amounts that trigger IBS Flare-Ups
NCT ID NCT05808023
Summary
This study aimed to help people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) figure out exactly how much of certain hard-to-digest foods they can eat without their symptoms coming back. After participants successfully followed a strict low-FODMAP diet to calm their symptoms, researchers gave them small, increasing amounts of two specific food components (fructans and mannitol) in a powder form. The goal was to find each person's unique 'trigger dose' to give them more control over their diet and symptoms.
