Doctors question routine steroid use before IBD infusions

NCT ID NCT07385131

Summary

This study is looking at whether patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis need to take a steroid pill (dexamethasone) before receiving their infliximab infusion to prevent allergic reactions. Researchers want to see if skipping this pre-medication for most patients is safe and could reduce unnecessary drug use and side effects. They will follow 300 patients to compare outcomes between those who get the routine steroid and those who don't.
