First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will screen 200 adults with metabolic fatty liver disease (MAFLD) for high uric acid levels. Researchers will measure uric acid and liver function at diagnosis and after 6 months. The goal is to understand how common high uric acid is in these patients and whether it can help guide better management of the disease.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that checking uric acid levels helps manage fatty liver disease and improve quality of life.
What could go wrong
This is an observational screening study, not a treatment trial. It will not test any new drug or therapy, so direct patient benefits are uncertain.
