Simple salt solution may shield kidneys after heart transplant

NCT ID NCT05909150

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether giving a concentrated salt solution (hypertonic saline) right after a heart transplant can prevent or lessen acute kidney injury. About 74 adults who have just received a heart transplant will be randomly assigned to receive either the salt solution or a placebo. The main goal is to see if the treatment keeps creatinine levels lower, indicating better kidney function.
