Oxygen therapy shows promise for diabetic foot ulcers

NCT ID NCT02326337

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested a device that delivers oxygen directly to chronic diabetic foot ulcers to help them heal. 73 people with diabetes and foot ulcers that had not healed for at least 4 weeks took part. Half used the real oxygen device, and half used a fake device, while everyone wore a special shoe and used standard wound dressings. The main goal was to see if the oxygen therapy led to complete wound closure within 12 weeks.
