Could oxygen therapy ease cancer drug pain?
NCT ID NCT07662629
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether adding hyperbaric oxygen therapy to a structured exercise program can reduce joint and muscle pain caused by aromatase inhibitors in breast cancer survivors. Forty older survivors with pain will either do exercise alone or exercise plus daily hyperbaric oxygen sessions for two months. The goal is to see if the combination provides better pain relief than exercise alone.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
hyperbaric oxygen therapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to reduce pain and improve quality of life for breast cancer survivors on hormone therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 40 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and hyperbaric therapy can be inconvenient and costly.
