Throat bone may play role in stroke: new study explores link

NCT ID NCT05349526

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looked at 206 patients who had carotid artery surgery to see if the hyoid bone (a small bone in the neck) is linked to artery narrowing and stroke. Researchers used CT scans to measure the distance and position between the hyoid bone and the carotid artery. The goal was to better understand how these structures might contribute to plaque buildup and stroke risk.
