New Two-Pronged attack on stubborn heart rhythm problem
NCT ID NCT02630914
Summary
This small study tested a new, combined procedure for people with complex, long-lasting atrial fibrillation (AF) that hasn't responded to medication. Doctors performed both a minimally invasive surgery and a catheter-based procedure at the same time to try to block the faulty electrical signals causing the irregular heartbeat. The goal was to see if this 'hybrid' approach was feasible and could lead to better results with fewer hospital visits.
