Gel war: which goo beats implant gum disease?
NCT ID NCT06083246
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested two gels, Hybenix and Chlosite, for treating peri-implantitis, an infection around dental implants. Forty adults with at least one infected implant received a professional cleaning followed by one of the gels. Researchers tracked gum bleeding, swelling, and bone loss over nine months to see which gel worked better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Hybenix gel and Chlosite gel
What this could lead to
If one gel works better, it could offer a simple, non-surgical option to control gum infections around dental implants.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 40 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The gels are compared to each other, not to a placebo or standard care.
