Searching for the family link to a painful skin disease

NCT ID NCT05710393

Summary

This study aimed to discover if Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), a chronic and painful skin condition, is passed down in families through specific genes. Researchers collected DNA and family history from 97 participants, including people with HS and their unaffected relatives, to look for a shared genetic cause. The goal was to understand the disease's origin, which could one day help guide future treatments, but this study itself did not test any treatments.
