Doctors test less radiation for HPV throat cancer to reduce harsh side effects

NCT ID NCT03729518

Summary

This study is testing whether using lower doses of radiation to a smaller area of the head and neck can still effectively control cancer after surgery for HPV-positive throat cancer. The goal is to see if this 'de-intensified' approach can maintain good cancer control while potentially reducing treatment side effects and improving quality of life. Researchers will follow 150 patients for two years to see if their cancer returns and to measure side effects.
