Blood test could spare throat cancer patients harsh radiation
NCT ID NCT06088381
Summary
This study is testing a new approach for people with HPV-linked throat cancer who have surgery. Researchers want to see if a simple blood test can identify patients who are very unlikely to need follow-up radiation. If the blood test after surgery shows no signs of cancer, patients may be able to avoid radiation and its potential side effects, like dry mouth and trouble swallowing, unless other high-risk factors are found.
