At-Home HPV test could revolutionize screening for women with autoimmune conditions

NCT ID NCT06302725

First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether women with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (like lupus or Sjögren's syndrome) can use a simple vaginal self-sampling method to check for high-risk HPV, a virus that can cause cervical cancer. About 300 women aged 30-65 will provide samples at home and again one year later. The goal is to see how common HPV is in this group and whether self-sampling is a practical, acceptable way to improve cervical cancer screening.
