Scientists probe hidden link between immune signal and metabolism

NCT ID NCT06721910

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a common immune signal (IL-6) changes how a hormone (glucagon) controls levels of amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein, in the blood. Researchers tested 26 healthy volunteers by giving them either a saline solution or a drug that blocks the IL-6 signal, then measured how their bodies processed amino acids and other substances. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how these systems interact, not to treat any disease.
