Summary

This study tested whether changing how an invitation email is worded affects how many people sign up for a clinical trial. Researchers invited over 5,000 patients with peripheral artery disease to join a trial about a home walking program. They compared two email styles: one where patients had to actively choose to join ('opt-in') and another where they were told they'd be contacted unless they chose not to be ('opt-out'). The goal was to see which method got more people to enroll and if it changed who signed up.
