Can a home stop addiction before it starts? landmark trial tests housing as prevention for homeless youth

NCT ID NCT04135703

Summary

This study tested whether providing stable housing along with counseling and support services could prevent opioid addiction in homeless young adults. Researchers worked with 240 homeless youth aged 18-24 who were not yet addicted to opioids. They compared two groups: one received housing plus prevention services, while the other received only the prevention services, to see if housing made a significant difference.
