Wireless watchdog for blood sugar aims to protect hospitalized veterans

NCT ID NCT03508934

Summary

This study is testing a new wireless system to monitor blood sugar in hospitalized veterans with type 2 diabetes who are at risk for dangerously low levels. The system sends glucose readings from the patient's bedside directly to the nurses' station, allowing for faster detection and response. The goal is to reduce episodes of low blood sugar, which can cause serious complications like seizures or heart problems during a hospital stay.
