Wireless sensors track hospital Patients' blood sugar like a vital sign

NCT ID NCT03068273

Summary

This study tested whether using a wireless continuous glucose monitor (CGM) could help hospital staff better manage blood sugar for patients with type 1 or high-risk type 2 diabetes. The CGM sent real-time data to a specialized nurse who worked with the care team to try to keep patients' glucose in a safe range and prevent dangerous highs and lows. The goal was to see if this technology could make hospital stays safer for people with diabetes.
