Hospitals try new approach to curb unneeded antibiotics

NCT ID NCT06106204

Summary

This study tests whether a customized hospital program can reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions when patients leave the hospital. Researchers will work with 40 Michigan hospitals to create tailored plans for improving antibiotic use for pneumonia and urinary tract infection patients. They will compare hospitals using the new program against those using standard practices to see if it reduces overprescribing and related side effects.
