Can hormone patches lift mood before periods? new study investigates
NCT ID NCT06610305
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at how natural hormone changes during the menstrual cycle affect mood and the ability to feel pleasure in women whose depression gets worse before their period. Researchers will give participants hormone patches and pills to stabilize hormone drops, then measure mood and brain activity. The goal is to understand the link between hormones and depression, not to test a new treatment. About 75 women will take part over three menstrual cycles.
