Can a hormone patch ease dangerous menstrual cycle thoughts?
NCT ID NCT06191289
Summary
This study tested whether giving the hormone estradiol around the time of a period could reduce the worsening of suicidal thoughts that some women experience during their menstrual cycle. It involved about 50 women who had recent suicidal thoughts but were at low immediate risk. Each participant tried both the hormone treatment and a placebo during different cycles to compare the effects on their thoughts and brain activity.
