Heart hope for HS patients: drug may slow artery plaque
NCT ID NCT07454889
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 34 adults with moderate-to-severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) who are taking secukinumab as part of their routine care. Researchers will use a special CT scan to check if the drug affects the buildup of plaque in the heart arteries over 12 months. The goal is to see if treating HS inflammation might also help keep the heart healthier.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
secukinumab
What this could lead to
If successful, this could suggest that treating HS with secukinumab may also help stabilize or prevent heart artery plaque, pointing to broader heart benefits.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center observational study, not a controlled trial. It cannot prove cause and effect, and results may not apply to all patients.
