NCT ID NCT05706181

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether using heated pants at home for 8 weeks could improve walking ability and blood vessel function in older adults. Twenty-one volunteers aged 55 to 80 used water-perfused pants that warmed their legs to about 40°C for one hour, four times a week. Researchers measured walking distance, blood flow, and vessel health before and after the treatment.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way for older adults to improve walking and blood vessel health at home.

What could go wrong

This was a small, early-phase study with only 21 participants. The heat therapy may not work for everyone, and long-term benefits or risks are not yet known.
