Can simple home breathing exercises keep COPD patients out of the hospital?

Summary
This study tests whether adding a home-based breathing muscle training program to usual care can help patients with severe COPD flare-ups avoid being readmitted to the hospital or dying. Researchers will compare 358 patients who either do the breathing exercises with smartphone monitoring or receive standard care alone. The main goal is to see if the training reduces hospital returns and deaths within six months after discharge.
