Summary
This study investigates whether adding a dietary supplement called hydroxymethylbutyrate (HMB) to standard pulmonary rehabilitation helps lung transplant candidates improve muscle mass, strength, and overall health. Participants are adults aged 40-50 who are on the waiting list for a lung transplant. Half will receive HMB for 8 weeks alongside rehab and diet therapy, while the other half receive only rehab and diet therapy. The goal is to see if HMB can better prepare patients for surgery and recovery.
