Summary
This study adapted and tested a community-based HIV prevention program for people who inject drugs along the U.S.-Mexico border. Researchers worked with 840 participants to understand how violence and stigma affect HIV risk and to offer testing, peer support, and community events. The goal was to reduce risky behaviors like sharing needles and having sex without condoms in exchange for drugs.
