Summary
This study is creating a women-centered HIV prevention program for young women aged 18-35 in Ghana. The program uses WhatsApp and community workshops to provide information on HIV self-testing and PrEP, aiming to reduce stigma and increase prevention uptake. Researchers will test the program with 50 women to see if it is acceptable and easy to use.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Women-Centered HIV Prevention Program (behavioral intervention via WhatsApp and workshops)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a scalable, youth-friendly model to reduce HIV stigma and increase use of HIV self-testing and PrEP among young women in Ghana.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 50 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention relies on WhatsApp and group workshops, which may not work for everyone.
