Secrets of the immune system: why some people naturally fight HIV

NCT ID NCT00029445

Summary

This study aims to understand how a small group of people with HIV, called 'long-term nonprogressors,' can control the virus for years without medication. Researchers will collect blood samples from 400 participants, including these rare controllers, people with typical HIV progression, and their family members. By comparing immune system genes and responses, the study hopes to uncover clues that could help design future HIV vaccines or treatments.
