Massive global study reveals how HIV outsmarts key drug
NCT ID NCT06285110
First seen Nov 26, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study enrolled over 1,100 people living with HIV whose dolutegravir-based treatment had failed (viral load over 1,000 copies/mL). Researchers collected blood samples and sequenced the virus's entire genome to identify drug-resistance mutations. The goal was to understand which mutations cause treatment failure and how they differ across HIV subtypes and regions. No new treatment was tested; the study only observed and analyzed existing data.
