New therapy aims to stop HIV patients from dropping out of care

NCT ID NCT04201288

Summary

This study tested a short, two-session therapy designed to help people newly diagnosed with HIV stay committed to their medical appointments. Researchers compared this Acceptance-Based Behavior Therapy against standard HIV education to see which was better at keeping patients in care and helping them achieve an undetectable viral load. The goal was to improve long-term health and prevent further virus transmission by ensuring patients receive consistent treatment.
