Scientists scan brains to unlock mystery of HIV-Related memory problems

NCT ID NCT05586581

Summary

This study aims to understand how HIV affects the brain's connections, even when the virus is controlled by medication. Researchers will use special brain scans (PET and MRI) and memory tests on 70 people—some with well-controlled HIV and some without HIV—over two years. The goal is to learn how brain inflammation and changes in nerve cell connections relate to memory and thinking difficulties.
