First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated Apr 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study aimed to understand how aging affects specific enzymes in the body that are needed to activate a common HIV prevention and treatment drug. Researchers collected blood and colon tissue samples from 21 adults of different ages, some taking the drug and some not, to measure these enzyme levels. The goal was to see if the drug's effectiveness changes with age by comparing enzyme activity between younger and older adults.
