Pilot study: lifting weights and creatine may boost muscle and brain health in midlife women

NCT ID NCT07027800

First seen Mar 12, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This completed pilot study looked at whether high-intensity resistance training combined with creatine supplements can improve muscle quality, strength, and thinking skills in perimenopausal women aged 38-60. Fifty-one healthy women were randomly assigned to either take creatine, a placebo, or no supplement, with the first two groups also doing a supervised exercise program. The goal was to see if these interventions could ease common symptoms of perimenopause, like muscle loss and brain fog.
