Summary

This trial tests whether adding hippotherapy—therapeutic horseback riding—to a standard special education program can improve physical function, bladder and bowel symptoms, and social communication in children with autism spectrum disorder. Thirty children will receive either the riding sessions plus their usual education, or just their usual education, for eight weeks. Researchers will measure balance, trunk control, posture, handgrip strength, and social skills before and after the program.
