New approach could extend pain relief after hip surgery

NCT ID NCT07316166

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a medication called dexmedetomidine to a standard pain-blocking injection can provide longer-lasting pain relief after hip replacement surgery. Researchers will compare two groups of patients: one receiving the standard injection alone and another receiving the injection with the added medication. The goal is to see if the combination reduces pain for a longer time and decreases the need for opioid pain medications during recovery.
