Targeted nerve block tested to ease agony of hip fractures
NCT ID NCT05673486
Summary
This study tested a targeted nerve injection, called a PENG block, for managing hip fracture pain in the emergency department. It compared the block plus standard painkillers against standard painkillers alone in 36 adult patients. The main goal was to see if the block could provide better pain relief while reducing the need for strong opioid medications like morphine.
