Breathing mask pressure test aims to keep patients off ventilators

NCT ID NCT07298889

Summary

This study is testing whether using higher air pressure through a breathing mask helps people with severe pneumonia or ARDS avoid needing a breathing tube inserted down their throat. It will compare high pressure to standard low pressure in over 700 hospitalized patients. The main goal is to see if the high-pressure approach leads to more patients surviving for 28 days without needing that invasive tube.
