One-Visit crowns: stronger ceramic could change dentistry
NCT ID NCT04604301
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a new high-strength ceramic material for dental crowns that can be made in a single appointment using a computer technique, avoiding the need for a temporary crown. 48 adults with a decayed, fractured, or poorly restored molar or premolar will receive the crown and be followed for up to 5 years to see how well it holds up and whether it causes tooth sensitivity.

- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to stronger, longer-lasting dental crowns that can be made in a single appointment, reducing patient visits.
