New One-Visit crowns put to the test
NCT ID NCT03716817
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested a new type of ceramic crown that can be made and placed in a single dental visit, avoiding the need for temporary crowns. Fifty adults with decayed, fractured, or poorly filled molars or premolars received these crowns and were followed for up to five years. The goal was to see how long the crowns last and whether they cause problems like sensitivity or loosening.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Tetric CAD resilient ceramic crowns
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that same-day ceramic crowns are a durable, convenient option for restoring damaged teeth.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study with only 50 participants. Crowns may still fail or cause sensitivity, and results may not apply to all patients or dentists.
