Aggressive new approach tested for Tough-to-Treat rectal cancers

NCT ID NCT01941641

Summary

This study tested whether giving strong chemotherapy before surgery and radiation could help shrink aggressive rectal tumors and make them easier to remove completely. It involved 40 adults with high-risk rectal cancer that hadn't spread to distant organs. The goal was to see if this intensive approach could improve surgical outcomes and reduce the chance of cancer returning.
