First seen Feb 02, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study compares two non-invasive breathing support methods—high-flow nasal cannula and non-invasive ventilation—for people with acute respiratory failure caused by a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs). The goal is to see which method helps patients breathe on their own more successfully within 48 hours and improves survival. The trial involves 100 adults who are stable enough to avoid a breathing tube.
