First seen Dec 12, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether giving a very high dose of lovastatin (a common cholesterol drug) for just 3 days after a stroke is safe. 162 adults who had an ischemic stroke were randomly assigned to receive either the high-dose lovastatin or a placebo within 24 hours of symptoms starting. The main goal was to check for muscle or liver damage, with follow-up over 3 months.
