Aggressive chemo plus stem cell rescue tested in breast cancer patients

NCT ID NCT00186641

First seen Jun 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested whether very high doses of chemotherapy, followed by a stem cell rescue, could help people with breast cancer live longer. It included 203 patients with stage II, III, or IV breast cancer whose tumors responded to standard chemo. The goal was to see if this intense approach improved survival, but it is not a cure and may require ongoing care.
