Could a common stomach issue be secretly scarring your lungs?

NCT ID NCT05716022

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a hiatal hernia, where part of the stomach pushes into the chest, might cause very early lung injury before any lung disease is diagnosed. Researchers compared 14 adults with a hiatal hernia to those without, looking for signs of stomach fluid in their lungs and measuring blood markers linked to scarring. The goal was to identify new risk factors for serious lung diseases.
